Euphoniums
Return to Band Members
Ian Plant - Principal Euphonium

Ian (or Planty as he is known by everybody except
his Mum), currently lives in Elland and is one of the OLD Hebden
Bridge stalwarts, playing with the band for over twenty five years
on and off. He learnt to play originally at our neighbours 'Friendly
Band', where they saw his potential and palmed him off on us quickly!
Subsequently we have not been able to get rid of him despite making
him Chairman four out of five years recently. He has recently
given up the Chairman position due to increased work commitments.
Aimee Twist - 2nd Euphonium
Aimee started playing euphonium aged 7 with Haydock Youth
Brass Band in her home town of St Helens. She joined St Helens
Youth under Lynda Nicholson in 1997 and sat on solo euphonium
aged 16, playing in four winning performances in the National
Youth Brass Band Championships and winning 'Best Instrumentalist'
for Solo Euphonium in 2005. Aimee played in London as part of
the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations, and her claim to fame
is having performed on Blue Peter in 2000!
At the same time as playing with St Helens Youth, Aimee also
played solo euph at Rainford Silver Band for a few years before
leaving to go to Huddersfield University where she has just completed
a PGCE in Music and is now looking for a teaching job. She has
joined Hebden Bridge after a 3 year break from playing, but has
also previously played with Trinity Girls, Haydock Band and Barnsley
Building Society Band.
